For once, the Deathwatch are called upon not for war, but for peace. Lord Inquisitor Thaddeus Hakk has managed to arrange an end to hostilities with the Tau, allowing the Imperium to focus it’s armies on the ever growing Waagh of Warboss Zrikgutta which has already consumed a handful of important planets and is poised to destroy even more, including the critical fortress world of Spite.
Unfortunately, it appears that the peace has opposition on both sides of the conflict, meaning that the Deathwatch will likely have it’s fair share of conflict before the peace is brokered.
Notes
Players will choose between 7 premade characters, after which they will requisition equipment and decide on a team specialty.
If they wish, players may build their own Space Marine before the game. Please consult the GM for further instructions.
Deathwatch is set in the grim and dark future of the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Players take on the role of surgically modified super humans known as Space Marines. These individuals are recruited from their native Chapters (fighting units of approximately 1,000 men) to serve as a military arm of the Inquisition, against particularly dangerous heretics and alien lifeforms.
For more than a hundred centuries the Emperor has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Earth. He is the Master of Mankind by the will of the gods and master of a million worlds by the might of his inexhaustible armies. He is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with power from the Dark Age of Technology. He is the Carrion Lord of the Imperium, for whom a thousand souls die every day, for whom blood is drunk and flesh eaten. Human blood and human flesh – the stuff of which the Imperium is made. To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruellest and most bloody regime imaginable. This is the tale of those times.
It is a universe you can live today – if you dare – for this is a dark and terrible era where you will find little comfort or hope. If you want to take part in the adventure, then prepare yourself now. Forget the power of technology, science and common humanity. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for there is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter and the laughter of thirsting gods.
But the universe is a big place and, whatever happens, you will not be missed…
